Whlist gettin' from there to here Dr. Phlox apparently dies when the Enterprise encounters an alien race nobody should know about for another couple of centuries which is in fact not what it seems but their opponent turns out to be well-meaning and vulnerable to a cunning bluff and so they ask nicely and their opponent leaves, which means everything turns out okay, give or take a few personal tragedies. Then, finally Trip says something smug and they leave at warp factor four.
