Whlist investigating stellar phenomena Captain Picard encounters an apparent series of malfunctions which is in fact Wesley's fault—as well as something huge which tries to destroy Earth and kidnaps someone while Deanna flops about uselessly so they do something ludicrous and work out a cunning bluff and so the guest star dies a heroic death, which means everything turns out okay, though Picard has had to deal with children. Then, finally Riker says something smug and they leave at warp factor four.
